Appeal Property Tax Appraisal
To appeal your appraised valuation send protests to your respective county appeal board before June 1st. For further details on how to protest, click here.

Tax Exemption
Appraisal districts are responsible for approving all tax exemptions: Homestead, Over-65 Homestead Exemption, Disabled Homestead Exemption, Veterans Exemption, Agricultural Exemption, Open Space Exemption, and Totally Exempt Property (churches, schools, governmental property). Once an exemption is allowed on a homestead, it will be allowed each year until the property changes ownership or the use of the property changes.

To apply for an exemption contact your respective appraisal district to ask for an application. Please provide all required information as soon as possible in order to allow the district time to update their records
and provide the correct information to the taxing jurisdictions. A completed exemption application form must be filed with the district prior to May 1st. However, a late application for a homestead exemption can be approved if filed no later than one year after the date the taxes on the homestead were paid or became delinquent, whichever is earlier.

Payment Deadlines
Tax bills are mailed each October and due upon receipt. The tax bill becomes delinquent on February 1 of the next year. If you do not receive a tax statement by November 1, contact the Dallas County Tax Office at (214) 653-7811 and a statement will be mailed to you.
